The Holy Trinity Church, Bekhovo village

The Holy Trinity Church in the village of Bekhovo was built according to Vassily Polenov’s design, in 1906. It is a mixture of Romanesque and Old Russian architecture. Its original and very picturesque shape perfectly fits into the Oka landscape. Famous Russian artists took part in the design of the church interiors: Ilya Repin, Elena Polenova, Alexander Golovin, Maria Yakunchikova,  Yeghishe Tadevosyan.
The church was badly damaged in 1941, during World War II. The restoration works were carried out only in 1972. Today it is an operating church and a museum object  with fully restored architecture and interior.
